DESCRIPTION:
* This will be the 16th edition of the Womens FIH Hockey World Cup, which was first held in 1974, in Mandelieu, France.
* Netherlands is the most successful team, having won the title nine times.
* Argentina, Germany and Australia are joint second best teams, having won the title twice each.
* India has not been able to win a medal yet.
* The best performance of the Indian women team was a fourth place, achieved in the 1974 inaugural edition.
* This will be the second time that the Indian women team will compete in the Womens FIH Hockey World Cup.
* A total of 16 countries have qualified to compete in the 16th edition.
* India has been drawn in Pool D, alongside China, England and South Africa.
* India will play all its pool-stage matches at the Wagener Hockey Stadium in Amstelveen, Netherlands.
* Team India will open the campaign against China on August 16, followed by matches against South Africa on August 18 and England on August 20.
