DESCRIPTION:
* Over 250 athletes from 30 countries are expected to compete in individual and team events of the World Championships, which will take place at Iksan Indoor Gymnasium in Iksan.
* A 13-member squad, including seven from Odisha, will represent India in this world championship.
* Odisha competitors are: Rakhal Kumar Sethy, V Ramesh Rao, Malti Panaure, Pabitra Sahoo, Rudra Narayan Behera, Om Prakash Behera, Pujaswani Nayak.
* Department of Sports & Youth Services (DSYS), Government of Odisha, organized coaching camp for Odisha para fencers at Kalinga Stadium, Bhubaneswar from 23 July to 26 August 2025.
* Para fencing coach Baldeep Sahota was roped in from London to increase the skills of Odisha para fencers.
* Department of Social Security and Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (SSEPD), Odisha Government has given funding support of Rs 11,87,031 to Pujaswini Nayak, under the Biju Patnaik Scheme for Sports Excellence (BBSY), for the world championship.
* This funding will be used for purchasing FIE-approved international-standard fencing equipment.
* Over the past five years, Pujaswini has accumulated 33 national-level medals for the Para Fencing Association of India.
