DESCRIPTION:
* UKS is staging the fourth leg of the Yoddha Fighting Championship (YFC) with a view to introduce and popularize Mixed Martial Art (MMA) in Odisha.
* Around 75 fighters from across the country, including Odisha`s Sachin Mahanta (Pankaj Fighting Club) and Biswadeb Pattnaik (UKS) would be seen in action.
* Best eight fighters from each of the four legs _ first three legs were held at Dimapur (Nagaland), Mumbai and Bangalore _ would be eligible to compete in the YFC grand finale (National championship) to be held at Mumbai.
* According to UKS secretetary HP Pattnaik MMA is known as `Ultimate Fight` and the fastest growing combat sport in the world.
* Practitioners of any martial art are eligible to take part in the ensuing event.
* It will be a freestyle fighting contest with fighters having the liberty to apply any form of attacking techniques except poking finger in the opponent`s eye, biting, spitting and hitting the groin.
* But it would be an amateur contest and no prize money would be involved.
* Bouts will take place in a 16ft x 16ft hexagonal iron cage, which is being procured from Maharashtra.
* Each bout shall have three rounds of three minutes each.
* This is a promotional event and no ticket is required to watch the fights, which will take place from 5.00 pm to 9.00 pm on both the days.
* The fights will be preceded by face-offs on July 3.
* AMRI Hospited has been tied up as medical partner and UKS is taking all precautions to avoid major injuries to the fighters.
