DESCRIPTION:
* The three-day tournament will feature competition in eight categories _ men`s open singles and doubles, boys` under-12 and under-16 singles, women`s singles and senior men`s 40+, 50+ and 60+ doubles.
* More than 300 entries from all over the state are expected to participate.
The premier domestic tournament offers a total prize fund of Rs 1.7 lakh, which is Rs 31,000 more than previous year.
* Cash prizes will be given quarterfinal onwards in all categories except senior men`s doubles.
* The title winner in men`s singles will receive Rs 8,000 and that of men`s doubles Rs 10,000, u-16 boys` Rs 7,000, women`s singles Rs 6,000 and u-12 boys Rs 5,000.
* Besides cash prizes and attractive trophies will be given to leading achievers.
* Free food will be provided to all the players and accompanying family members.
* The budget of the tournament is estimated to be Rs 7 lakh and title sponsor National Aluminium Company (NALCO) has made contribution of Rs 6 lakh.
* BDTA has a number of associate sponsors to make the tournament financially sustainable.
* Title sponsors Nalco has been giving Rs 4 lakh each year for the staging of the tournament.
* Nalco has increased the amount to Rs 6 lakh for the next three years.
* According to BDTA president Suresh Chandra Mohapatra, the district body spends Rs 3 lakh on food for players and their family members, Rs 2 lakh prize money and trophies and another Rs 50,000 to repair the courts.
* He has announced that professional coaches would not be allowed to compete in the tournament from the next edition.
