MAJOR PERFORMANCE/ACHIEVEMENTS:

NATIONAL:
*     Became the first woman from Odisha to compete in the (38th) National Weightlifting Championship at Jaipur, Rajasthan in 1986 (Feb 24 to 28).
Represented Odisha in 12 National championships.


OTHER IMPORTANT DATA:
*     Learnt the basics of weightlifting at Chacha Nehru Club, Berhampur.
*     Participated in school and district level competitions at the age of 15 in 1984.
*     She was a contemporary of legendary Manipur lifter Kunjarani Devi.
*     Her husbad Gagarin Nayak too was a weightlifter and represented Odisha in many National championships.
*     Gave birth to her first daughter Bishnupriya in 1991.
*     Four months after attaining motherhood, she and her husband participated in a National championship.
*     Retired from competitive weightlifting in 1993.
*     After retirement, she continues her association with weightlifting, serving as a judge and coach, providing guidance to young lifters.
