ACHIEVEMENTS IN PLAYING CAREER (JAVLIN THROWER):
* Won bronze medal in the Junior National Athletics Championship at Ahmedabad, Gujarat in 1971, throwing the spear to 57.96 meters. The effort also fetched him a meet record.
* Bronze medal in Senior Boys National athletics championships at Jaipur, Rajasthan in 1972.
* Silver medal in the Asian Veteran Athletics Asian Championship at Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia in 1990.
ACHIEVEMENTS AS A COACH:
* Groomed scores of national and international level athletes during his 35-year-long career as a coach.
* His proteges include international hurdlers Anuradha Biswal, Sahebani Oram, Jauna Murmu; javeline thrower Susama Behera; high jumper Usharani Mishra; long jumper Hemant Patel; sprinter Farooq Ali; long-distance runners Anil Minz and Baiju Marandi.
* Also rendered commendable service to improve the fitness standard of sportspersons in general.
* Leading beneficiaries of his fitness tips were hockey Olympians Dilip Tirkey and Lazrus Barla.
AWARDS/HONOURS:
* Bagged the OSJA Lifetime Achievement Award for the Year 2020 and a cheque of Rs 25.000 at Barabati Stadium, Cuttack on 21 March, 2021.
* Received the highest recognition of his career in 2005 when he was honoured with the Biju Patnaik State Sports Award as the Outstanding Coach of the Year.
