*     Son of Bihari couple, who migrated to Bengal for greener pastures, Pappu lost his parents Jamdar Roy and Prativa Devi when he was an infant.
*     His parents hailed from Khajuri village, about 41 kilometres away from Chhapra in Saran district of Bihar.
*     It was his uncle and aunt, who took care of him.
*     After his uncle, a daily labourer passed away, 15-year-old Pappu found it difficult to even arrange one meal a day.
*     At that juncture, cricket became his source of survival and he earned his meals by bowling at club nets.
*     He started off as a pacer before switching over to left-arm spin as advised by Howrah Union Cricket Academy coach Sujit Saha.
*     He was highest wicket-taker in CAB Second Division League in 2011 with 50 wickets in 9 matches for Dalhousie.
*     Unable to find a place in Bengal team, he shifted to Odisha and played inter-district tournament for Jajpur district.
*     At the age of 23 he was selected to play for India C squad led by Ajinkya Rahane in the Deodhar Trophy.
