Odisha bagged a total of five medals in the 78th Senior, 55th Junior & 41st Sub-Junior National Track Cycling Championships, which concluded at Sidhu-Kanhu Velodrome in Ranchi Jharkhand today. Woman international Swasti Singh was the most successful Odisha competitor, securing one silver and two bronze medals.

Rourkela cyclist Swasti, who represented India at the 20th Asian Games 2026 in Aichi-Nagoya (Japan), captured her third medal today with a silver in women elite 10km scratch race, scoring 68 points.

Employee of Odisha Mining Corporation (OMC), Swasti earlier captured one bronze medal each in women elite 4 km individual pursuit and women elite 20km omnium events. Bhadrak cyclists Barsarani Barik and Sasmita Panda were the other two medal winners for Odisha.

Sasmita won the first medal for the State with a bronze in youth girls individual pursuit, while Barsarani claimed the silver in the women elite 1 km time trial.

But Odisha could not match the success it achieved at the previous edition of the Track National Championship in Rudrapur (Uttarakhand), where the State bagged six medals, including three gold, two silver and one bronze. This time Odisha could not win a singles gold medal.

Odisha ace Swasti, who won the Best Women Cyclist Trophy, bagging three gold and two silver medals last year, contented herself with one silver and two bronze this time.

The absence of woman international Khoirom Rejiya Devi was a major reason for Odisha not doing as well as expected. Originally from Manipur, Rejiya was a regular National medal winner for Odisha since 2024. But she represented Indian Police at the Ranchi National after joining Border Security Force (BSF) one month back.
