Odisha Government today felicitated the Indian mens and womens hockey teams for winning gold medals at the 2026 Asian Games and qualifying for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics. Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi presented a total cash award of Rs 5.61 crore to the players of the two teams and their support staff during a grand ceremony at Kalinga Stadium, Bhubaneswar.
Each player received Rs 11 lakh, while each member of the support staff was given Rs 5.50 lakh. The Odisha players -- Amit Rohidas and Shilanand Lakra of the mens team, and Sunelita Toppo of the womens squad – were rewarded an additional Rs 20 lakh each for their outstanding contributions.
