15 Oct 2026

Odisha reclaimed their position in Division-A by emerging Division-B winners in the 16th Hockey India Senior Men National Championships at Jhansi in Uttar Pradesh today. Led by Dipsan Tirkey, Odisha won all of their four matches in Pool-A league.

Odisha trounced Uttarakhand 18-1, Kerala 9-0, Assam 10-1 and Chhattisgarh 8-1. They scored a total of 45 goals and conceded only three. Odisha penalty-corner specialist Anmol Ekka and forward Sudeep Chirmako emerged as the top two scorers in Division-B with 10 and seven goals to respectively.

Odisha team coach and Olympian Lazrus Barla expressed happiness for emerging toppers in Division-B and getting promoted to Division-A. “We lost one year due to relegation to Division-B, but we prepared well this year, won all four matches to recapture our berth in Division-A,” he observed.
