Odisha table tennis international Sarthak Arya continued his successful journey in the WTT Youth Contender circuit, bagging four medals for India in back-to-back tournaments in Sarajevo, Bosnia-Herzegovina and Tashkent, Uzbekistan between 27 April and 16 May 2026. The four medals consisted of one silver and three bronze.
Sarthak won one bronze each in U-17 and U-19 boys singles by reaching semifinals at the Tashkent tournament, which was held at Sports Complex in Yunusabad, Tashkent from 13 to 16 May 2026. He reached semifinals before losing to Balamurugan Rajasekar (India) 0-3 (9-11, 9-11, 10-12) in U-19 group and to Li Ki Ho (Hong Kong, China) 0-3 (9-11, 8-11, 4-11) in U-17 section.
Earlier at the Sarajevo tournament, which took place at Arena Hotel Hills, Sarajevo, from April 27 to 30, Sarthak won the silver medal in U-17 boys singles and the bronze in U-19 mixed doubles.
In U-17 boys singles, he beat Jonas Rinderer (Germany) 3-2 (6-11. 11-3, 11-7, 9-11, 11-5) in the semifinals before losing to Berk Oztoprak (Turkey) 2-3 (8-11, 11-8, 11-7, 7-11, 14-16) in the final.
In U-19 mixed doubles, Sarthak and his partner Lizett Fazekas (Croatia) lost to Ivan Kahn (Netherlands) and Lin Wan-Rong (Chinese Taipei) 2-3 (4-11, 4-11, 11-9, 12-10, 9-11) in the semifinals.
With these four medals, the world ranking of Sarthak is expected to climb up to the 35th position in junior boys category.
