  State Sr Swimming: Pratyasa, Shristi, Abhinav crowned champs

Khordha and Odisha stars Pratyasa Ray and Shristi Upadhaya were crowned joint individual champions in the womens group of the 66th Odisha State Senior Swimming Championship, which concluded at the Indoor Aquatic Centre, Kalinga Stadium, Bhubaneswar today. The mens individual champion award was bagged by Khorda ace Abhinav Kumar Singh,

In fact, swimmers of Khordha district made a clean sweep of the all top honours as they also clinched the team title, while Bargarh finished runners-up. Khordha captured 26 out of a total of 40 gold medals, including 10 on the second and last day.

 

Odisha Olympic Association president Samir Mohanty joined the closing ceremony as chief guest and handed over the trophies. Patna MLA Akhila Chandra Naik, Swimming Federation of India joint-secretary Lakshmi Chandra Mahakur, Odisha State Swimming Association president Pradip Kumar Padhee, secretary Golapmani Mahanta and treasurer Bijay Kumar Dixit were present on the occasion.

Shristi Upadhaya (Khordha), 2. Sonia Patel (Khordha), 3. Anshika Aradhana Sahoo (Khordha). 50m backstroke: 1. Pratyasa Ray (Khordha), 2. Dhanvi Bhaumik (Khordha), 3. MEN: 1500m freestyle: 1. Piyush Thakur (Sambalpur), 2. Raiguru Suryansh Mohapatra (Khordha), 3. Himanshu Sekhar Sahoo (Khordha). 200m breaststroke: 1. Sai Swarup Swain (Khordha), 2. Sourav Putel (Balangir), 3. Svisa Barik (Deogarh). 200m butterfly: 1. Shubhrant Patra (Ganjam), 2. Anshuman Vashist (Bargarh), 3. Sruti Ranjan Patalsingh (Khordha). 100m freestyle: 1.
