  National Para Athletics: Long-jumper Jayprakash wins gold

Odisha long-jumper Jayprakash Barik brought pride for the host state by winning the gold medal in mens T36 category of the 24th National Para Athletics Championship at Kalinga Stadium, Bhubaneswar today. He clinched the gold with a jump of 4.83 metres.

Odisha para athletes bagged four medals on the second day. Besides the gold by Jayprakash, Odisha secured three silver medals. In mens 400m T11, Jadunath Majhi showcased great determination and endurance to secure the silver medal with a timing of 57.70 seconds.

Continuing her consistent form, star sprinter Jayanti Behera earned a silver medal in womens 400m T47 event, clocking 1:04.35 and further strengthening the medal tally of the host state. Earlier on the opening day, Jayanti claimed the gold medal in 100m run.

The other silver medal of the day for Odisha was secured by Managat Hembrom in mens T13 long jump event. He finished second with an impressive jump of 6.33 metres. The four medals today, increased the tally for Odisha to nine medals. Earlier on the opening day, Odisha garnered five medals, including two gold, one silver and two bronze.
