Odisha ace Tapan Mohanty won the coveted gold medal in senior mens all-around event with an impressive score of 73.433 on the second day of the Junior & Senior Artistic Gymnastics National Championships 2026-27 at the Gymnastics High Performance Centre, Kalinga Stadium, Bhubaneswar today.
Yogeshwar Singh (Haryana) secured the silver medal with a score of 72.667, while Shayan Sharma (Services Sports Control Board) claimed the bronze medal with a score of 71.268. Tapan scored 12.700 in floor exercise, 11.867 in pommel horse, 12.133 in steel rings, 12.933 in vaulting table, 12.100 in parallel bars and 11.700 in horizontal bars.
The all-around event was contested by a total of 161 gymnasts, including seven from Odisha. Among other contestants, Mrutyunjaya Pattanaik finished 23rd, Arpan Naskar 35th, Sumit Dhali 50th, Ajad Laskar 52nd, Debasis Reddy 56th, M Mohid Kumar 111th and Siddharth Parida 152nd. Odisha gymnast Tapeswarnath Das, representing Services (SSCB) secured the seventh position.
Adding to the success of the host contingent, Odisha qualified for the senior mens team championship final, further reinforcing its strong performance at the national level. The events of the day were attended by dignitaries, including Gymnastics Federation of India president Sudhir Mital and Fencing Association of India secretary general Rajeev Mehta.
