  Odisha cueist Das set to play at World Billiards Championship

Top Odisha cueist Subrat Das will be representing India in the upcoming IBSF World Billiards Championship, scheduled to be held at SBI Academy in Carlow, Ireland 24 to 29 April 2026. This tournament is part of a 12-day festival of billiards, featuring the WBL Irish Open, World Matchplay Championship, and the main IBSF World Championship, featuring top players from various countries.

Das, a multi-time State billiards and snooker champion, landed in Carlow today. This will be his second World championship and he is looking forward to dish out his best in all three tournaments. Das will start his campaign at the Irish Open tomorrow. He is scheduled to meet multiple-time World champion Mike Russell in his last league match. The Irish Open will be followed by the Macau World Matchplay Billiards Championship from 20 to 24 April (Point Format 100-Up).

After these two events, Das will compete in the IBSF World Billiards Championship which will be played in time format. Almost all the India star cueists, including defending champion Sourav Kothari and 16-time title winner Pankaj Advani, along with Dhruv Sitwala, Sidharth Parikh, Alok Kumar, Rayan Razmi, Rupesh Shah and Dhwaj Haria will also take part in these events.

Each country is allowed to send eight players. IBSF will invite the top-eight finishers of the IBSF World Billiards Championship 2025. The Department of Sports & Youth Services, Government of Odisha, has extended support, including air tickets for the participation of Das.
