  National Track Cycling: Odisha women bag double silver

Odisha women continued their successful campaign in the National Track Cycling Championship at Shivalik Velodrome in Rudrapur, Uttarakhand, winning two silver medals on the second day today. Odisha women elite team, consisting of leading light Swasti Singh, Barsarani Barik and Khoirom Rejiya Devi, captured one silver in the sprint event.

Sasmita Panda claimed the other silver for Odisha in the youth girls 2 km individual pursuit event. This was the second National medal for Bhadrak girl Sasmita, who trains at Odisha Cycling Academy, Kalinga Stadium, Bhubaneswar. She won her first National medal earlier this month at the Road National Championship in Sambalpur.

 

Odisha women have garnered four medals in the first two day of the five-day Track National Championship. Earlier on the opening day, Odisah secured one gold and one bronze medal.

Odisha elite women squad, featuring Swasti Singh, Rejiya Devi, Barsarani Barik, Madhusmita Badek and Manisha Sahoo won the gold medal in 4 km team pursuit, while Barsa bagged her second medal of the day with a bronze in 1 km individual time trial.
