  Natl Track Cycling: Odisha women get gold; Barsa bags bronze

Odisha won one gold and one bronze medal on the opening day of the 77th Senior National Track Cycling Championship at Shivalik Velodrome in Rudrapur, Uttarakhand today. Women cyclists once again made the state proud, winning both the medals.

Odisha Elite women squad, featuring international Swasti Singh, Khoirom Rajiya Devi, Barsarani Barik, Madhusmita Badek and Manisha Sahoo won the gold medal in 4 km team pursuit event, defeating Haryana.
 

Barsa bagged her second medal of the day with the bronze in 1 km individual time trial, clocking 1 minute and 17.002 seconds. The team gold was the first National medal for Madhusmita and Manisha.

Madhusmita is a student of Kalinga Institute of Social Sciences (KISS) and Manisha belongs to Bhadrak district. The 54th Junior & 40th Sub-Junior National Track Cycling Championships are also being held simultaneously in Rudrapur. The National championships are scheduled to conclude on December 23.
