A 32-member Odisha squad, featuring 16 male and as many female lifters, bagged a total of 10 medals at the National Weightlifting Championships, which was held at Yadav Farm House in Modinagar, Uttar Pradesh from 3 to 14 February 2026. The 11 medals consisted of three gold, two silver and five bronze.
Bidusmita Bhoi, a trainee of Dhenkanal Sub-Centre of the Odisha Weightlifting High Performance Centre (OWHPC), was the most successful competitor from Odisha, securing one gold, one silver and one bronze in womens 63kg weight clash.
Promising international lifter Bidusmita set three new National records in junior group, lifting 89kg in snatch, 117kg in clean & jerk and 206kg in total. The stellar performance by Bidusmita fetched her the well-deserved trophy as the best lifter in junior women category.

Other two gold medals for Odisha were bagged by Subrat Naik and Rima Bho in 60kg youth men and 58kg senior women inter-state categories. The Odisha squad was accompanied by 10 coaches, support staff and officials, including Olympian K Ravi Kumar.
