  Odisha shooters Manyata, Shriyanka corner international glory

Markswomen Manyata Singh and Shriyanka Sadangi revived the shooting success for Odisha by winning one silver and two bronze medals in different international competitions last week. Bhubaneswar girl Manyata secured the silver medal in the junior women 10m air rifle event of the Asian Shooting Championship at the Dr Karni Singh Shooting Range in New Delhi on 7 February 2026.

A trainee of Odisha Aditya Birla Gagan Narang Shooting High Performance Centre, Kalinga Stadium, Bhubaneswar since 2020, Manyata won the silver medal on her international debut. She is the daughter of DAV School teachers Sarbadaman Singh and Smita Das, and pursues integrated law at KIIT Deemed to be University, Bhubaneswar.

Manyata qualified for the Asian championship on the basis of her National rankings. Meanwhile, she has also been selected to represent India in the ISSF Junior World Cup Shooting Championship, scheduled to be held in Cairo, Egypt from 19 to 27 April 2026.

 

Shriyanka Sadangi, the most decorated shooter of Odisha, won both the bronze medals in womens air rifle events at the 48th InterShoot Shooting Competition, which was held in The Hague, Netherlands from 5 to 7 February 2026. She did not compete in the Delhi Asian Championship.

Shriyanka has been training abroad with a target to qualify for the 34th Summer Olympics to be held in Los Angeles, United States from 14 to 30 July 2028. She secured a quota berth for the 2024 Paris Olympics, but missed the opportunity after failing to make the cut at the National selection trials.
