Odisha Senior Men Cricket Team ended their Ranji Trophy campaign on an embarrassing note, losing the seventh and last Elite Group-A match by four wickets against Jharkhand at Keenan Stadium in Jamshedpur today. The four-day match proved to be a bitter pill to swallow for Odisha as they suffered the defeat despite taking first-innings lead.

This was the fifth defeat for Odisha who finished seventh in the eight-team Group-A with seven points from seven matches. Led by Subhranshu Senapati, Odisha won one game against minnows Nagaland and drew one against Uttar Pradesh after conceding first-innings lead.

On the other hand, the win against Odisha helped Jharkhand claim the top spot in the group and qualify for the quarterfinals, along with Andhra. Odisha earlier lost to Baroda, Andhra, Vidarbha and Tamil Nadu.

While the match against Jharkhand came as a major setback for Team Odisha, it brought individual glory for young left-arm spinner Sayed Tufays Ahmad, who made his First-Class debut for the State memorable, bagging four wickets in each innings.
