  Vijay Hazare Trophy: Gujarat maul Odisha by 233 runs

A six-wicket haul by captain Chintan Gaja and a 60-ball 73 by Team India allrounder Axar Patel powered Gujarat to a 233-run win over Odisha in their Elite Group-D match of the Vijay Hazare Trophy Senior Men One-Day Cricket Tournament at BCCI Centre of Excellence Ground in Bengaluru today.

Put into bat, Gujarat mustered a huge total of 333 for six and then skittled out Odisha for a paltry 100 in 28.1 overs. Gaja was awarded as the player of the match. Young left-arm spinner Sayed Tufayl Ahmad made his List-A debut for Odisha, who suffered their third defeat in six matches. With this crushing defeat Odisha slipped to the fifth spot in the Group-D table with 12 points in their kitty.
 

Earlier Odisha were at the top of the table with a hat-trick of wins, including one against Delhi. They will play their seventh and last league match against Railways at Alur Cricket Stadium in Bengaluru on January 8.
