Odisha bowed out of the BCCI Mens U-23 State A Trophy One-Day Tournament, suffering a 58-run defeat against Andhra in their seventh and last Elite Group-B match at GSFC Cricket Ground in Vadodara, Gujarat today. With this win, their fifth in seven games, Andhra qualified for the quarterfinals, garnering 20 points.
This was the third defeat for Odisha, who finished fifth in the eight-team group with 16 points in their kitty. Earlier, Odisha beat Goa, Jharkhand, Gujarat and Assam, but lost to Jammu-Kashmir and Mumbai.
SDNV Prasad was the star in the Andhra win, hitting 97-ball 103. In reply to an imposing total of 302 for nine by Andhra, Odisha folded up for 244. Captain Om T Munde was the top scorer for Odisha with a 46-ball 50. Sambit Baral was the most successful Odisha bowler, taking three wickets.
