  Junior Men National Hockey: Odisha settle for silver medal

Odisha settled for the silver medal in the 15th Hockey India Junior Men National Championship 2025 (Division-A) as they squandered a 2-0 lead to go down to Haryana 2-3 in the final at Olympian Surjit Hockey Stadium in Jalandhar, Punjab today. Punjab won their 3rd/4th Place match against Uttar Pradesh 4-3 in shootout after a 3-3 draw over the four quarters to clinch the bronze medal.

Earlier in the semifinals, Odisha defeated Punjab 3-2 while Haryana thrashed Uttar Pradesh 3-0. Odisha reached the semifinals, beating Karnataka 2-1 and Andhra Pradesh 10-0 in their two Pool-D league matches, and Manipur 9-0 in the quarterfinals.
 

The 18-member Odisha team was led by Sanjit Tirkey with Peter Soreng as the coach. A total of 12 teams participated in Division-A, the top of the three divisions. Teams finishing 11th and 12th will be relegated to Division-B.

17 August 2025 (League match): Hockey Association of Odisha (Ritik Lakra 50-FG, Aryan Xess 51-PC) beat Hockey Karnataka (Nitesh Sharma 37-PC) 2-1. PoM: Ritik Lakra.

18 August 2025 (League match): Hockey Association of Odisha (Pratap Toppo 10-FG, Pradip Mandal 12-PC, 44-PC, Bilkan Oram 24-PC, 35-PC, Deepak Pradhan 27-FG, 57-FG, Karan Lakra 56-FG, 59-FG, Yojin Minz 60-FG) beat Hockey Andhra Pradesh 10-0. PoM: Sanjit Tirkey

20 August 2025 (Quarterfinal): Hockey Association of Odisha (Bilkan Oram 4-PC, Ritik Lakra 25-FG, Yojin Minz 27-PC, Nitesh Minz 28-PC, Harun Minz 29-FG, Abhisek Topno 39-FG, Deepak Pradhan 47-FG, Karan Lakra 54-FG, 59-PC) beat Manipur Hockey 9-0. PoM: Nitesh Minz.

21 August 2025 (Semifinal): Hockey Association of Odisha (Pratap Toppo 1-PC, 15-FG, Karan Lakra 58-FG) beat Hockey Punjab (Gursewak Singh 12-FG, Manmeet Singh Rai 44-PC) 3-2. PoM: Aryan Xess (Odisha).

23 August 2025 (Final): Hockey Association of Odisha (Deepak Pradhan 17-PC, Pratap Toppo 19-PC) lost to Hockey Haryana (Chirag 50-PC, Nitin 51-FG, 60-FG) 2-3.
