Five competitors from Odisha secured first position in respective events of the Indian Open Athletics Meet, which was organised by Bihar State Sports Authority, under the aegis of Athletics Federation of India, at Patliputra Stadium in Patna today. The five athletes are: Abhinash Sahu, Srabani Nanda, Manisha Merel, Sarun Payasingh and Laxmipriya Kisan.
Odisha athletes also secured second position in six events and third position in eight events. A total of 37 athletes from Odisha registered their entries for this one-day competition. Among them star javelin thrower Kishore Kumar Jena did not start (DNS).
