  Rutaparna wins All India Senior womens doubles title

Combining with a new partner, Odisha ace Rutaparna Panda travelled from qualifying stage to win the womens doubles title in the Yonex-Sunrise All India Senior Ranking Badminton Tournament, held in Rajahmundry, Andhra Pradesh from 21 to 28 September 2025. 

Rutaparna and her Delhi partner Deepshikha Singh beat seventh seed Kerala pair of Pavithra Naveen and Gowrikrishna TR in the hard-fought final 23-21, 24-22 to take home the winners prize of Rs 1,02,600.

Rutaparna played with Deepshikha as her regular partner and younger sister Swetaparna Panda chose to stay in their hometown Cuttack and prepare for an upcoming Europe tour.

 

Rutaparna and Deepshikha won six matches to clinch the title. On their way to the final, the Odisha-Delhi pair beat top seeds Shreya Balaji and Deepta S in the pre-quarterfinals 21-19, 21-18 and fifth seeds Arathi Sara Sunil and Varshini VS 21-8, 18-21, 21-12 in quarterfinals.

Rutaparna also played the mixed doubles event with Aman Farogh Sanjay as her partner. They reached quarterfinals before losing to Niranjan GN and Varna P 17-21, 20-22.

The Panda sisters are set to participate in three international tournaments during their Europe tour next month. They will start their campaign at the Victor Denmark Open, scheduled to be held in Odense, Denmark from October 14 to 19.

Rutaparna and Swetaparna will next play at the Yonex French Open BWF World Tour Super 750 Tournament in Cesson-Sevigne, France from October 21 to 26, and then conclude the tour at the Hylo Open BWF Super 500 Tournament in Saarbrucken, Germany from October 28 to November 2.
