  Badminton: Harshit, Samrudhi, Somyajeet win multiple titles

Harshit Priyadarshi Behera (Cuttack) bagged a treble, while Samrudhi Raj Bishwal and Somyajeet Sahoo (both Bhubaneswar-Khordha) clinched a double each in the Yonex-Sunrise All-Odisha Sub-Junior (U-15 & U-17) Ranking Badminton Tournament, which was held at Multi Purpose Indoor Hall in Rayagada from 26 to 28 September 2025.

Harshit won the three titles in U-15 boys singles, doubles and mixed doubles with Ayank Kumar Sahu and Adyasa Mohapatra respectively as partners. Samrudhi was crowned champion in U-15 and U-17 girls singles. Somyajeet Sahoo claimed his two titles in U-17 boys singles and mixed doubles with Jessica Sahu as his partne
 

Bhadrak-Jajpur pair of Buddupu Laxmi Reddy and Ritika Das also secured a double, emerging both U-15 and U-17 girls doubles champions. The three-day tournament carried a total prize fund of Rs 1,11,500 for title winners, runners-up and losing semifinalists.

RESULTS (Finals):

U-15 Boys Singles: Harshit Priyadarshi Behera (Cuttack) beat Ayank Kumar Sahu (Sambalpur) 21-12, 21-16.
U-15 Boys Doubles: Harshit Priyadarshi Behera (Cuttack) & Ayank Kumar Sahu (Sambalpur) beat Nitesh Pattnaik (Koraput) & Sai Chandan Mohanty (Balangir) 21-11, 21-18.
U-15 Girls Singles: Samrudhi Raj Bishwal (Bhubaneswar-Khordha) beat Aditi Swain (Bhubaneswar-Khordha) 21-14, 21-11.
U-15 Girls Doubles: Buddupu Laxmi Reddy (Bhadrak) & Ritika Das (Jajpur) beat Alyassa Pradhan and Sadhika Sampoorna Das (both Sambalpur) 21-12, 21-13.
U-15 Mixed Doubles: Harshit Priyadarshi Behera & Adyasa Mohapatra (both Cuttack) beat Dityansu Sharma (Bhubaneswar-Khordha) & Alyassa Pradhan (Sambalpur) 24-22, 21-19.

U-17 Boys Singles: Somyajeet Sahoo (Bhubaneswar-Khordha) beat Bibhudutta Biswal (Dhenkanal) 2112, 27-29, 22-20.
U-17 Boys Doubles: Ansuman Singh (Cuttack) & Ojodeep Majhi (Balasore) beat Anshuman Purohit (Sundargarh) & Hreehan Pradhan (Sambalpur) 21-13, 21-15.
U-17 Girls Singles: Samrudhi Raj Bishwal (Bhubaneswar-Khordha) beat Sadhika Sampoorna Das (Sambalpur) 21-7, 21-7.
U-17 Girls Doubles (RR League): Buddupu Laxmi Reddy (Bhadrak) & Ritika Das (Jajpur) champion with 4 wins. Jessica Sahu (Bhadrak) & Sofia Padhy (Ganjam) runners-up with 3 wins, 1 loss.
U-17 Mixed Doubles: Somyajeet Sahoo (Bhubaneswar-Khordha) & Jessica Sahu (Bhadrak) beat Ansuman Singh (Cuttack) & Anshika Birok (Sundargarh) 21-19, 21-19.
