  OPTL 2025: Cuttack Panthers win tourney opener

Cuttack Panthers beat Bhubaneswar Tigers by three wickets in the opening match of the 1st Odisha Pro T20 League (OPTL) at Barabati Stadium, Cuttack today. The franchised-based cricket tournament, featuring six teams, is being organised by Odisha Cricket Association (OCA), in collaboration with Arivaa Sports.

Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi graced the opening ceremony as chief guest,  unveiled the trophy and rang the bell for the opening match. Former India pace bowler Irfan Pathan was present on the occasion as brand ambassador of the tournament.

 

OPTL will feature a total of 18 matches. The champion and runners-up teams will be given Rs 50 lakh and Rs 25 lakh respectively as cash prizes. Each player of the match will receive Rs 10,000 and the player of the tournament Rs 1 lakh. Best batter and best bowler of OPTL will be richer by Rs 50,000 each.

RESULTS:

17 September (Match 1): Bhubaneswar Tigers 188/5 in 20 overs (Gaurav Chaudhary 78, Rajesh Dhupar 65, Bikram Samal 34; Vageesh Sharma 2/25, Soubhagya Rout 2/31) lost to Cuttack Panthers 189/7 in 20 overs (Swastik Samal 52, Panakala Sasanka 46, Subham Satrujit 34*, Sourav Gouda 34; Badal Biswal 2/26) by 3 wkts.
