Aahan clinches AITA Womens double crown on debut
12 Sep 2025

Aahan, a rising tennis star of Odisha, scripted a memorable chapter in her burgeoning career as she clinched a double crown by winning both the singles and doubles titles in the BREN Topspin Tennis AITA Womens 1 Lakh Tournament at Topspin Tennis Academy in Bengaluru today.

The double crown assumed greater significance as the 15-year-old Bhubaneswar girl achieved it not only on her debut in the womens domestic competition structure of All India Tennis Association (AITA), but also as a qualifier.

Displaying exceptional skill and complete dominance in the singles final, Aahan registered a resounding 6-0, 6-0 victory over B Hridayeshi of Karnataka. Partnering with Savitha Bhubaneswaran of Tamil Nadu, Aahan won the doubles final with a score of 7-5, 6-2 against Gujarat pair of Riya Bhurja and Soumya Ronde.

“The double crown on debut in the womens circuit is a testament of Aahans hard work and dedication. We are incredibly proud of her achievement," said her coach Santosh Kumar Mallik and mentor Chinmay Pradhan.

Before graduating to womens circuit, Aahan, who trains at Gurukul Tennis Academy in Mendhashal, near Bhubaneswar, achieved notable success in the junior national and international circuit, winning around 40 national and five international titles since 2019.

Aahans mother, Kiran Nayak credited the double crown to the Department of Sports and Youth Services (DSYS), Government of Odisha and Mission Olympics Sports Foundation (MOSF). “The DSYS sponsored her participation for the first time. MOSF has been supporting Aahan for years,” said Kiran.

Throwing light on Aahans future plans and goals, Kiran said: “She will next compete in the ITF W15 international tournament in Gurugram from September 14 and then the Fenesta Nationals. Aahan targets to secure her first WTA point and play a Grand Slam event as well.”
