After conceding a first-inning lead of 16 runs, Odisha fought back to beat Jammu & Kashmir by 118 runs on the third and final day of their third and last Group-B match of the All India Buchi Babu Memorial Invitational Cricket Tournament at SSN College Ground in Chennai today. But the win went in vain as Odisha were eliminated from the group stage.
Experienced allrounder Govinda Poddar and young left-arm spinner Sayed Fufayl Ahmad played instrumental roles in the Odisha win. Poddar scored a half-century in each innings and claimed a total of five wickets. He bagged the Player of the Match award of Rs 10,000.
Tufayl captured four wickets in each innings for a match haul of eight for 149. Among other notable performers for Odisha, Rajesh Dhupar scored a century in the first innings, while Kartik Biswal and Subhranshu Senapati contributed one half-century each in first and second innings respectively.
