12 May 2025

Weightlifters continued to be the leading medal winners for Odisha in the ongoing 7th Khelo India Youth Games (KIYG), bagging one more silver at Rajgir Sports Complex in Bihar today. Tiki Mohini Mallik won silver medal in the youth women 64kg category, lifting 74kg in snatch, 98kg in clean & jerk for a total of 172kg.

This was the only medal Odisha could claim on the ninth day of the KIYG 2025. In fact, it was only weightlifting that fetched medals for Odisha for the third successive day. The silver by Tiki Mohini was the fourth medal Odisha has garnered in weightlifting so far.

Earlier, Odisha lifters Harsabardhan Sahu and Jyoshna Sabar captured one gold each, while Mina Santa (A) pocketed one silver. With one silver today, Odisha has collected a total of eight medals so far in the KIYG 2025. The eight medals include three gold and five silver.

Tiki Mohini hails from Malukutupulli village of Ganjam district and trains at the Odisha Weightlifting High Performance Centre in Bhubaneswar since 2021. Daughter of paddy farmer Maguni Mallik, Tiki is being guided by coach K Venkat Laxmi.
