Odisha weightlifting international Mina Santa (A) secured one silver medal in the youth women 55kg category of the 7th Khelo India Youth Games (KIYG) at Rajgir Sports Complex in Bihar today. She finished second with a total lift of 177kg, which included 80kg in snatch and 97kg in clean & jerk.

Assam lifter Aisangfa Gogoi bagged the gold medal, lifting 81kg in snatch, 102kg in clean & jerk and 183kg in total. She also established a new Youth National Record in total, bettering the previous record of 182kg, achieved by Koyel Bar of West Bengal at the 2024 Asian Championship in Doha, Qatar.

Aisangfa also equaled the snatch record of Mina Santa, who had created it at the World Youth Championship in Suva, Fiji, last year. Hema Sri Karangi (Andhra Pradesh) claimed the bronze medal with a total lift of 164kg.

The silver by Mina was the only medal Odisha won on the eighth day of the KIYG 2025. This was the third medal for Odisha in weightlifting, following a gold each by Harsabardhan Sahu and Jyoshna Sabar yesterday. Odisha now has a total of seven medals in its kitty and stands 16th in the medal tally.

The seven medals include three gold and four silver. Odisha captured its first gold in girls kho-kho earlier on May 9. Odisha boys kho-kho team also secured the silver medal, while Odisha boys and girls rugby teams claimed one silver each.

Odisha narrowly missed two bronze medals in weightlifting as Mukesh Gamango and Mina Santa (B) finished fourth in youth men and women 55kg weight categories respectively.
