Host Cuttack were crowned champions in the OCA Inter District Womens Cricket Tournament (T-20 Format), defeating Balangir by five wickets in the final at Barabati Stadium, Cuttack today. Cuttack received the winners prize of Rs 2 lakh, while runners-up Balangir took home Rs 1 lakh.
Opting to bat, Balangir made a modest total of 115 for five in the stipulated 20 overs. Former India opener Madhuri Meheta was the top scorer for Balangir with 38 runs, while experienced Sarita Meher contributed an unbeaten 37. Jahnavi Sarangi picked up two wickets for Cuttack.
In reply, Cuttack rode on an unbeaten 36 by stumper Monalisha Rout to chase down the target of 116 in 19.3 overs, losing five wickets in the process. Shilpa Swain was another successful batter for Cuttack, hitting 34.
