  Naval Tata Grassroot Hockey: Kuarmunda boys, Lathikata girls triumph

Kuarmunda boys and Lathikata girls emerged champions in the 5th Odisha Naval Tata Grassroot Hockey League (Final Phase), which was held at Kalinga Stadium, Bhubaneswar from 8 to 12 July 2025. In the finals, Kuarmunda boys beat Nuagaon 5-3, while Lathikata girls edged out Gurundia 2-1 in penalty shootout.

Saunamara boys and Bamra girls finished second runners-up. The tournament was inaugurated by Odisha Sports Minister Suryabanshi Suraj alongside international hockey player Dipsan Tirkey. Former India mens hockey team captain Prabodh Tirkey and State Sports Department Director Deepankar Mohapatra presented the trophies in the closing ceremony. Nava Tata Hockey HPC Project Director Rajiv Seth was present on the occasion.
 

The two-phase tournament started with 64 teams participating in the first phase, which was held at Chhatrapur and Banai. Out of the 64 teams, eight boys and as many girls teams qualified for the final phase. The tournament was organised by Odisha Naval Tata Hockey High Performance Centre with the support of the State Sports & Youth Services Department.

July 8: Match 1. HTC Lathikata beat HTC Kutra 2-0. Match 2. HTC Gurundia beat HTC Saunamara 8-0. Match 3. HTC Bamra beat HTC Bargaon 5-0. Match 4. HTC Jajpur beat HTC Subdega 4-3.
July 9:  Match 5. HTC Lathikata drew with HTC Gurundia 2–2. Match 6. HTC Kutra beat HTC Saunamara 5–0. Match 7. HTC Bamra beat HTC Jajpur 3–1. Match 8. HTC Bargaon beat HTC Subdega 4–1.
July 10: Match 9. HTC Lathikata beat HTC Saunamara 13-0. Match 10. HTC Gurundia beat HTC Kutra 3-2. Match 11. HTC Bargaon beat HTC Jajpur 2-1. Match 12. HTC Bamra beat HTC Subdega 6-1. 
July 11: Match 13. HTC Lathikata beat HTC Bargaon 3-0. Match 14: HTC Gurundia beat HTC Bamra 4-1.
July 12 (Third place): Match 15. HTC Bamra beat HTC Bargaon 1-0. Match 16 (Final): HTC Lathikata beat HTC Gurundia 1-1 (SO 2-1).

July 8: Match 1. HTC Rajgangapur beat HTC Saunamara 2-1. Match 1. HTC Kutra beat HTC Subdega 1-0. Match 3. HTC Kaurmunda beat HTC Nuagaon 3-1. Match 4. HTC Kardapal beat HTC Chatrapur 4-1.
July 9:  Match 5. HTC Rajgangapur beat HTC Kutra 3–1. Match 6. HTC Saunamara beat HTC Subdega 6–3. Match 7. HTC Kaurmunda beat HTC Kardapal 5–1. Match 8. HTC Nuagaon beat HTC Chatrapur 10–0.
July 10: Match 9. HTC Rajgangapur beat HTC Subdega 5-1, Match 10. HTC Saunamara drew with HTC Kutra 2-2, Match 11. HTC Nuagaon beat GRC Kardapal 3-2. Match 12. HTC Kaurmunda beat HTC Chatrapur 3-0.
July 11 (SF): Match 13. HTC Nuagaon beat HTC Rajgangapur 3-3 (SO 4-1). Match 14: HTC Kaurmunda beat HTC Saunamara 2-1.
July 12: Match 15 (Third place): HTC Saunamara beat HTC Rajgangapur 4-1. Match 16 (Final): HTC Kaurmunda beat HTC Nuagaon 5-3.
