Odisha shooter Kashika excited for international debut
06 Jul 2025

It will be a dream come true for Odisha woman shooter Kashika Pradhan when she makes her international debut at the ISSF World Cup (Rifle/Pistol), scheduled to be held at Ningbo Olympic Sports Centre in Ningbo, China from 7 to 15 September 2025.

Trainee of Bhubaneswar-based Odisha Aditya Birla Gagan Narang Shooting High Performance Centre, Kashika has been selected to represent India in the womens 10m air rifle event. One of the three most prestigious international shooting tournaments, the ISSF World Cup is a key event for Olympic qualification.

More than 1000 elite shooters from around 70 countries are expected to participate in Ningbo ISSF World Cup 2025. A total of five shooters have been chosen to represent India in this World Cup. “I am excited to make my international debut at the ensuing World Cup,” said the 23-year-old shooter from Bhubaneswar.

Daughter of Biswanath and Anubha Pradhan, Kashika made a glorious debut at the National Shooting Championship in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh last year, winning the gold medal in women 50m rifle-three position. She followed her golden debut with notable performances in National Selection Trials, which concluded recently in Dehradun.

Kashika said she would start training for the World Cup from the third week of July after working out a plan in consultation with her coaches Purusottam Panga (Bhubaneswar Shooting HPC) and Neha Chavan (Chennai). “I am looking forward to making the best possible preparation for my international debut,” stated Kashika, who is also pursuing a course in Chartered Accountancy.

Since winning a medal at the Odisha State Championship in 2015, Kashika has been making steady progress in her shooting career. She thanked Olympic Gold Quest and the State Sports & Youth Services Department for their support and the OABGN Shooting HPC for top-class training facilities.
