  WPF Games: Odisha athletes win two medals for India

Odisha athletes Ashok Dandasena and Susmita Tigga won one medal each for India in the 21st World Police & Fire Games (WPFG), which is underway in Birmingham, USA from 27 June to 6 July 2025. India has so far garnered 28 medals, which include 12 gold, eight silver and eight bronze.

Dandasena bagged the gold medal in the mens 800m, while Susmita Tigga secured silver medal in womens 800m run on July 1. Both are working as constables in Odisha Police and train at Odisha Reliance Foundation Athletics HPC in Bhubaneswar.

 

The World Police & Fire Games (WPFG) are an Olympic-style competition with thousands of athletes representing First Responders from different countries across the world.

The Games are held biennially & typically have 60+ sports in the Official Games program. The Games are governed by the California Police Athletic Federation (CPAF), the Host City, & the WPFG Board of Directors. The first WPFG were held in 1985 in San Jose, California.
