  National Deaf Sports: Odisha taekwondo boys bag 3 medals

Odisha won three medals in the taekwondo competition of the 27th Senior National Deaf Sports Championship, which was held at VSSD College in Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh from 20 to 23 June 2025. The three medals include two silver and one bronze

According to information received from taekwondo team manager Alok Choudhury, the two silver medals were bagged by Mandal Nayak in senior boys below 80kg and Subham Hembram in senior boys below 69kg categories.

 

Manoj Das claimed bronze medal in senior boys below 58kg category. All three medal winners are Class-X students of Sri Sri Beleswar High School for the Deaf, 42 Mouza, Cuttack.

Odisha Sports Council of the Deaf (OSCD) fielded three taekwondo athletes in this National championship and all three won medals. The trio belongs to families of farmers. Both Mandal and Subham hail from Mayurbhanj district. Manoj is a native of Cuttack district.

Aryan Choudhury was the coach of the taekwondo team. Manager Choudhury, who is also the coordinator of the OSCD, thanked the State body president Asit Mishra, general secretary Niranjan Joshi and the Department of Sports & Youth Services (DSYS), Government of Odisha for their help, support and guidance.
