Rising star Mannata Mishra and paragon Pratyasa Ray won one silver and bronze medal respectively for host Odisha on the fifth and final day of the 78th Senior National Aquatic Championship at the Aquatic Centre in Kalinga Stadium, Bhubaneswar today.
With a total of six medals, which featured one gold, two silver and three bronze, Odisha claimed the seventh position in the overall medal tally. Mannata won the silver medal in women 100m breaststroke with a time of 1:15.57.
Pratyasa captured the bronze in women 100m backstroke, clocking 1:05.64. Women swimmers not only bagged all the six medals for Odisha, they did it for the second successive time at the Senior National championship.
Karnataka asserted supremacy in the 78th edition, emerging overall champions with a total of 41 medals, including 16 gold, 11 silver and 14 bronze. Tamil Nadu (8 gold, 5 silver, 3 bronze) and Maharashtra (5 gold, 6 silver, 6 bronze) secured the second and third places in the medal tally with 16 and 17 medals respectively.
