Astik shattered the previous record of 46.90 seconds, which was created by his Statemate Bapi Hansda last year in Lucknow.

Ommkar Prasad Nanda won the silver medal in mens shutput competition, throwing the iron ball to a distance of 18.46 metres. He also finished fourth in the hammer throw with an effort of 58.25 metres.

Ankita Mohapatra won the bronze medal in womens hammer throw with an effort of 47.40 metres. Pratik Maharana won the bronze medal in mens 200m run, clocking 21.44 seconds. He also finished fourth in the 100m run with a time of 10.62 seconds. His statemate Astik Pradhan finished fourth in the 200m with a time of 21.64 seconds.

A total of 21 athletes, including eight females, submitted entries to represent Odisha in this National championship.
