  Asian Ju-jitsu: Anupama bags silver and bronze medal

Odisha woman international martial artist Anupama Swain added two more medals to her international list, winning one silver and one bronze in adult female -52kg contact and fighting events respectively at the 9th Ju-jitsu Asian Championship, which was held in Amman, Jordan from 23 to 26 May 2025.

Employee of Commissionerate Police, Bhubaneswar, Anupama won one more medal in the Asian Ju-jitsu Championship for the fifth time in a row since 2021. With addition of the silver and bronze in the ninth edition, the total number of her Asian medals has gone up to six, which include two silver and four bronze.

India bagged two gold, five silver and 10 bronze for a total of 17 medals in the Amman Asian Championship. Four martial artists from Odisha represented India in the Asian championship.

 

Other three were: Santosh Singh (adult male -77kg), Swaraj Jani (adult male -69kg) and Debasis Samantray (adult male -62kg).

The four Odisha competitors were included in the Indian squad on the basis of their performances at the National Open Selection Trial that took place at Haldwani, Uttarakhand on 27 April 2025.
