Odisha player Stitaprangya Sahoo finished runner-up with 7.5 points in the 20th KT Global School International Open FIDE Rated Chess Tournament, which was organised by IIG Sports Academy at KT Global School in Barunei, Khordha from 26 to 30 April 2025. He received a cash prize of Rs 20,000.
Ranit Maity (West Bengal) emerged champion with eight points, while Raghubaran Raghuraman (Tamil Nadu) secured the third position with 7.5 points. Maity pocketed the top prize of Rs 25,000, while Raghuraman became richer by Rs 10,000.
The five-day tournament, carrying a total prize fund of Rs 2 lakh, attracted a total of of 340 participants from 15 states. Khordha MLA Prasanta Kumar Jagadev joined the prize distribution ceremony as chief guest and handed over the trophies.
KT Global School Principal Rinku Sarangi, CFO Pradip Ku Sahoo, Administration Director Prasanta Kumar Puhan, Vice-President Bimal Kumar Rout, sports director Jyoti Shankar Nanda, former All Odisha Chess Association president GC Mohapatra, chief arbiter Nihar Ranjan Sasmal and deputy chief arbiter Bhabesh Mohanty were present on the occasion.
