Odisha lost to Punjab by five wickets in their fifth and last Group-A league match of BCCI Womens Under-23 One-Day Trophy at CAP Ground-3 in Puducherry today. This was the third defeat in a row for Odisha and the team was eliminated at the league stage.

Odisha finished a disappointing fifth with six points in the six-team Group-A league, winning only one game. Their fourth match against Kerala ended without any results at CAP Ground-2 in Puducherry on March 11 and the two teams secured two points each.

Opting to bat against Punjab after captain Alipsa Biswal won the toss, Odisha compiled a competitive total of 185 for nine, thanks to a half-century by Tanmayee Behera. Punjab comfortably overhauled the target in 48.2 overs, losing five wickets in the process.

Sonali Hembram was the most successful Odisha bowler, taking three wickets for 30 runs. Odisha started their campaign with a 99-run win against Meghalaya. Thereafter, the team lost to Saurashtra by 12 runs and to Haryana by six wickets.
