  All India Police Football: Odisha women win maiden bronze

Odisha Police Women Football Team won their first ever bronze medal in the 73rd edition of the BN Mullik Memorial All India Police Football Championship, trouncing Manipur 6-1 in the 3rd/4th place match at Umakanta Stadium in Agartala, Tripura today.

After conceding an early goal, Odisha fought back to clinch the emphatic win with captain and India striker Pyari Xaxa and Jasoda Munda scoring a brace each, and Manisha Naik and Sumitra Hembram netting one goal each. The only goal for Manipur was scored by Bala Devi.

Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) emerged champions, defeating Assam Rifles 3-2 in the final. The 20-member Odisha team, featuring another international in Juli Kishan, started their campaign with a jolt as they lost to SSB 1-2. But in their next two games, they decimated CRPF 5-1 and Jharkhand 19-0 to advance to the semifinals, where they lost to Assam Rifles 0-4.
