  Sattwik, Aditi crowned Odisha State U-9 chess champions

Khordha pair of Sattwik Swain and Aditi Moharana won the open and girls titles respectively in the Odisha State Under-9 Chess Championships 2025 which concluded at Srusti Academy of Management and Technology in Bhubaneswar today. Out of a possible eight points, Sattwik and Aditi scored 7.5 and seven points respectively.

Cuttack boy Advik Aditya Swain and Khordha girl Anannya Annwesha Mishra finished runners-up with 6.5 points apiece. Top two finishers from each category qualified to represent Odisha in the upcoming 38th National Under-9 Chess Championships scheduled to be held at Pragyanam School, Gurugram, Haryana, from 15 to 21 June 2025.

A total of 120 players (81 in the open category and 39 in girls category) from 14 districts participated in the three-day event, which was jointly organised by Master Chess Foundation (MCF) and Srusti Academy of Management and Technology (SAMT), under the aegis of All Odisha Chess Association (AOCA).

State Sports Department Deputy Secretary Padma Charan Sahoo was the chief guest of the prize distribution ceremony. AOCA secretary Debabrata Bhatta, joint-secretary Bhabesh Mohanty, eminent chess player IM Anwesh Upadhyay, SAMT Dean GD Mishra, MCF founder Bikram Keshari Biswal, chief arbiter Suresh Chandra Sahoo and and arbiter Santosh Kumar Mohapatra were present on the occasion.
