  Indian Open Relay Carnival: 12 Odisha runners win medals

As many as 12 athletes from Odisha won medals for different State and institutional units in the 2nd Indian Open Relay Carnival 2025, held at the Sector-7 Sports Complex in Chandigarh on 30 April 2025. The all-Odisha 4x100m mixed relay team of Bonita Lakra, Manisha Merel, Abhinash Sahu, Dondapati Mrutyam Jayaram secured the silver medal, clocking 43.61 seconds.

Odisha Reliance Foundation Athletics HPC team, featuring Odisha native runners Mahendra Santa, Astik Pradhan and Pratik Maharana, captured the gold medal in mens U-20, 4X100m relay event with a time of 40.60 seconds. Abhay Singh was the other runner of the team.

 

Odisha sprinter Animesh Kujur was part of the Reliance team that won the gold medal with National Record in mens 4x100m relay with a time of 38.69 seconds. Gurindervir Singh, Manikanta Hoblikar and Amlan Borgohain were other three runners of the team that bettered the previous National Record of 38.89 seconds.

Odisha Olympian Srabani Nanda was a member of the NCOE Trivandrum team that secured the gold medal in womens 4x100m relay, clocking 44.12 seconds. Other three sprinters of the team were: Abinaya Rajarajan, Sneha SS and Nithya Gandhe.

Odisha runners Saswat Kumar Sahoo, Bhima Sardar and Sukhi Baske featured in the Reliance team that secured the bronze medal in 4x400m mixed relay event with a time of 3:36.85. Ramandeep Kaur was the other member of the team.

Odisha Athletics Association President Dr G Srinibas Patnaik and secretary Avijit Paul congratulated the medal winners of the State.
