  National Federation Athletics: Pragyan, Swadhin bag silver medals

Odisha secured two medals on the second day of the 28th National Federation Senior Athletics Competition as Pragyan Prasanti Sahu and Swadhin Kumar Majhi won one silver medal each at the Maharajas College Stadium in Kochi, Kerala today. Odisha has gathered a total of three silver medals so far with Animesh Kujur claming the first one in mens 100m sprint earlier on the opening day.

Pragyan Prasanti Sahu bagged silver in the womens 100m hurdles with a timing of 13.40 seconds. Andhra Pradesh star Jyothi Yarraji clocked a time of 13.23 seconds to win the gold, while Nithya Ramraj (Tamil Nadu) bagged the bronze, clocking 13.42 seconds.

 

Swadhin Kumar Majhi won the silver medal in mens high jump with a leap of 2.14 metres. Sarvesh Anil Kushare (Maharashtra) took the gold with an effort of 2.26 metres, while Bharath Raj B (Kerala) settled for the bronze medal, clearing a height of 2.14 metres.

A total of 16 athletes from Odisha are participating in the National Federation Senior Athletics Competition, which will conclude on April 24. This competition will be a key selection event for the Asian Athletics Championships, scheduled to be held in Gumi, South Korea from 27 to 31 May 2025.
