  Indian Open Jumps: Swadhin, Jamuna bag bronze for Odisha

Odisha athletes Swadhin Majhi and Jamuna Tudu bagged one bronze medal each in the 4th Indian Open Jumps Competition, which was organised by Anju Bobby High Performance Centre, under the aegis of Athletics Federation of India in Bangalore, Karnataka on 22 March 2025.

Swadhin achieved the feat in the mens high jump event with a leap of 2.13 metres. Sarvesh Anil Kushare (Maharashtra) and Uchchaal Kumar Roy (West Bengal) bagged the gold and silver medal with efforts of 2.19m and 2.13m respectively.

 

Jamuna secured the bronze medal in the U20 women long jump event with an effort of 5.30 metres. The gold and silver medals in the event were claimed by Deesha Ganapathy (Karnataka) and Kshirja Kumar (Uttarakhand) with jumps of 6.09m and 5.45m respectively.

A total of six athletes from Odisha participated in the one-day championship. Other four were: Merymukta Soreng, Swagat Behera, Nikhil Das and Sarun Payasingh.
