Head coach Gitanjali Khuntia too contributed a lot in Odisha winning the silver medal as she instilled tremendous confidence and fighting spirint into the mind and body of the players. Her planned and executed her strategy meticulously.

Earlier in the semifinals, Odisha beat last-year runners-up Haryana 2-0, while Manipur humbled two-time champions West Bengal 3-0. Odisha qualified for the semifinals by securing the second place in the Group-A league with seven points from four matches. They won three, drew one and lost one.
