Swimming ace Pratyasa Ray continued the medal-winning trend intact for Odisha, securing the only medal with a bronze on the sixth day of the 38th National Games in Uttarakhand today. The star swimmer claimed the bronze in womens 100m backstroke, clocking 1:07.77 at the Indira Gandhi International Stadium Swimming Pool in Haldwani.
This was the second individual bronze medal for Pratyasa, who secured her first bronze in 200m backstroke two days ago. She also played an instrumental role in Odisha winning the historic 4x100m medley relay gold earlier on January 30. This was the sixth medal for Odisha in swimming, which has proved as the most successful discipline for the State.
With just one meday today, Odisha stood 13th in the medal tally with a total of 15 medals, which featured four gold, three silver and eight bronze. Odisha women football also brought some cheers for Odisha as they rode on a hat-trick by Malati Munda (45th, 60th, 83rd) to crush Sikkim 5-1 in their third and last group league match at the District Sports Complex in Haldwani.
