  East Zone Jr Athletics: Odisha overall runners-up with 71 medals

Host Odisha finished overall runners-up with a total of 71 medals and 219 points in the 35th East Zone Junior Athletics Championships, which concluded at Kalinga Stadium in Bhubaneswar today. The 71 medals featured 25 gold, 19 silver and 27 bronze. West Bengal emerged overall champions with 255 points.

Odisha also emerged as overall champions in the boys category with 126 points. Odisha girls finished overall runners-up with 93 points. The host state bagged 25 medals on the third and concluding day. The 25 medals included eight gold, six silver and 11 bronze.

 

CEO, Hockey Promotional Council of Odisha CEO Deepankar Mohapatra, State Sports Department (DSYS) Additional Secretary B K Swain and Joint Secretary Sailendra Jena graced the closing ceremony and felicitated the medal winners. Odisha will also host the 39th National Junior Athletics Championships at Kalinga Stadium, Bhubaneswar from 25 to 29 October 2024.
