Odisha’s Ishan Kumar Pradhan has been selected to represent India in the Asian Cadet & Junior Judo Championship, scheduled to be held in Mungyeong, South Korea from 28 August to 2 September 2024. According to Odisha State Judo Association (OSJA) CEO Gitanjali Panda, 17-year-old Ishan will compete in the cadet boys -90kg category.
Ishan qualified for the Asian championship by finishing second at the National selection trial, which was held in New Delhi 21 and 22 July 2024. He has the distinction of winning the silver medal in National Sub-Junior Judo Championship in Chandigarh on 12 November 2021.
A native of Sambalpur, Ishan spent two in Bhubaneswar to hone his skills under leading coach Gitanjali Panda at the Bhanja Kalamandap Judo Hall. Sinch May this year he has been shaping his career at the Sports Authority of India (SAI) Training Centre in Ponda, Goa.
